A "light black" Darjeeling tea, First Flush 2023. A high-grade fresh Darjeeling tea, boasting a bright hue, hints of tropical fruits and fresh grass, with a smooth and thick texture. This tea is an anomaly for Darjeeling tea enthusiasts, shining in its green side and sorted as whole leaves, ideal for Chinese brewing in Gong Fu Cha method. An advanced tea, demanding sensitivity and precision during its infusion to enjoy its full potential.
 
Beyond the mistaken cataloging of Darjeeling tea as black tea, there's nothing dark about this tea. In fact, the oxidation process of this premium   batch lasted no more than 10 minutes. Given that it's such an early harvest of a pair of young leaves and a closed bud, it's essentially a hybrid tea closer to the green tea process. This is in fact the secret behind the complexity and funky tones of the early harvest of properly processed Darjeeling tea. The delicate rolling of the leaves and the cool climate at the foothills of the Himalayas, where the Avongrove estate is located in the Mirik Valley, also contribute to this tea's mineral and velvety character.
 
After maturing with us for about three months under optimal conditions and winning the title of "Most Special Tea" at the Blind Tasting Club's Summer 2023 edition, this tea reaches its peak for a relatively short period - during the summer and autumn months. Afterward, the tea will continue to oxidize and thicken, and its character will keep evolving.

Do not confuse with other grades of tea bearing the same name. "Euphoria" is a nickname for various versions of tea from Avongrove tea estate, versions with different harvest times, leaf size classifications, and sometimes even clones. The stock of our version of Euphoria weighs only 12kg, out of hundreds of kilograms of various Euphorias out there.
