Tea leaves plucked from ancient tea trees, at least 150 years old (gu shu 古樹) that grow on altitude of 1650m on mountain Meng Fei Shan, one of the most appreciated mountains in West Yunnan.
Grown 100% naturally without pesticides (uncertified organic) this tea was plucked by hand and processed in a traditional way, and simply called "raw tea" (sheng cha 生茶) by the locals.
Short infusions will yield a delicate, smooth drink, while longer infusions will have deeper taste in a medium body. Made from our finest raw material harvested in the 2019 season from the Yongde area, we manually compressed it by hand into small 100 gram cakes with a medium level of compression.
This tea was a hit in its early years with us, and now we have halted its sale to age the last remaining tongs. Those who had the opportunity to purchase the younger cakes and age them truly benefited. What remains of this tea is currently in a stage of maturation that shapes its future profile, a critical stage for its type of Pu-erh during the first 5-7 years. Hence, proper storage conditions will serve it well for extended aging over many years.
Superb sheng of unique profile for advanced drinkers, that will improve even more in proper storage. Recommended for drinking in the first part of the day, from spring to autumn.
