Wulong tea (Oolong tea) 大紅袍 Da Hong Pao, in Chinese "Big Red Robe" (da hong pao 大紅袍). The tea grew on a rich, yellowish rocky soil in the Xi Zhou town, categorized as half-rock tea, on the iconic Wuyi Mountains' northern slopes in Fujian province. Unlike other types of rock teas, it is associated with a specific taste profile as directed by the farmers.

Harvested from a single bush, young leaves are twice roasted on charcoal throughout the summer of 2023 for a cumulative period of 42 hours. This process results in a dark appearance and a dominant aroma of baking with a complex, rich taste. Da Hong Pao is a unique sub-type of the native yan cha (from Mandarin: "rock tea") varieties grown on the Wuyi Shan land, tea that has become a symbol in Chinese culture. Today, it is mostly a commercial blend not grown on its original soil, intended for export and supermarkets. This is an original version of Da Hong Pao from the Xi Zhou town in the heart of Wuyi Shan, categorized as a half-rock tea.

An entry-level tea, part of the dark oolong series in the premium Wuyi yan cha category. It's a warming tea recommended for consumption in the cool seasons, from autumn to spring, and can age well in its original packaging.
